Unique and Fabulous Baby Shower Invitations

When it comes to baby shower invitations these days, the sky is the limit. All you need to know is how many invitations you need and how much money you have to spend – from there, you can choose from a huge assortment of unique and fabulous baby shower invitations.

If you want your invitations to be unique, you aren't going to want to go to your local mega mart and pick up a package of “fill in the blank” invitations. However, if you look a little more at the mega mart, you may be surprised to find plenty of do it yourself invitation kits. You can choose from a variety of different styles that you can use in your home computer printer – they’ll look professionally-done, but without the cost associated with hiring a graphic designer for the work.

Of course, you can also choose to design the entire invitation online. There are a number of do it yourself invitation software packages to choose from, whether you need help with every step of the project or just need a place to get started. In fact, modern laser printers produce such wonderful quality materials that it really doesn't make sense to pay to have invitations printed any other way!

When you’re in your local craft store, be sure to check out all of the papers and stickers in the scrapbooking aisle – you’ll be amazed at the wide variety of supplies you’ll find there. You can use paper punches to decorate simple papers or add a decorative edge or you can use special stamps to give store bought invitations a personal touch. You really are limited only by your imagination and budget – if you need help with the former, there are plenty of online websites and magazines that can inspire you and provide step-by-step instructions on how to get started.

One really interesting idea for unique baby shower invitations involves those ubiquitous one piece baby garments known as onesies. You might want to print an invitation on paper, use a diaper pin to attach it to the onesie and mail the entire package to your guests. Or, if you're handy with a silk screen, you could silk screen the invitation directly onto the onesie. Another idea would be to include a onesie in each invitation and ask the guest to bring the decorated onesie to the shower as a gift for mom – your guests will have fun seeing all of the different designs people come up with. The onesies will make great additions to baby's wardrobe or even provide decoration for the baby's room!

If the weather is amenable, consider printing invitations to a “sweet shower” for the mom-to-be on a label you can wrap around a chocolate bar. Now there's an invitation your guests are sure to remember! However, if it’s too hot out, think again – no guest wants to find a dripping puddle of melting chocolate in the mailbox!

Whatever your level of crafting skill, you can find or make an invitation that will clearly express the joy you all share in celebrating the new arrival – you just need to think outside the box!
